Glass Types

The secret of double glazing's performance lies in the air gap between the two panes which acts as a layer of insulation. Double glazing ensures the cold stays out and the heat stays in.

Types of glass

Low emissivity glass such as Pilkinton 'K' has a special coating which reflects heat back into the room to reduce heat loss even further.

Laminated glass has a thin strip of clear plastic material between two layers of glass. The glass is capable of withstanding heavy impact. In the unlikely event of breakage, the laminate holds the glass together until it can be replaced.

Toughened glass is heat-treated and then cooled very quickly. The glass is lighter than laminated glass but still capable of withstanding heavy impacts. If a breakage does occur, the glass disintegrates into small particles.

The Secure Choice

Double glazing is more secure than single glazing. In addition our system is designed to be strong and can be specified with security features such as internal beading with multi-point and/or shoot bolt locking. Internal beading prevents the removal of the glass by thieves from the outside to gain access. Multi point locking secures the opening frame to the fixed frame at several points.
